Athlete development philosophy
Ski Mountaineering India aims to create a structured development pathway for athletes across ability levels.
The objective is to help athletes understand the sport, access training opportunities, build technical skills, compete safely, and progress through transparent competition and selection systems.
The pathway
Four stages, from a first taste of the sport to representing India on the international stage.
Discover
Introduction to the sport through awareness programmes, workshops, school and community outreach, and first-exposure camps.
Train
Structured training in endurance, skiing technique, uphill movement, transitions, mountain safety, equipment, and race preparation.
Compete
Participation in local, regional, and national events, including camps, trials, races, and ranking opportunities.
Represent
Progression toward national teams, international exposure, and recognised competition pathways.
Athlete registration
Athlete registration will help build the national database for ski mountaineering participation, development programmes, event communication, and future selection processes.
